Purpose Defeated

Grrrr. I just finished battle with my weekly foe. . . .

. . . . and lost the battle once again!

Is it just me or do others struggle to open those darn cardboard 12-pack can boxes? I mean they have that lovely little perforated section at the bottom front. You know the one? It's meant to turn the box into a handy little soda dispensing machine. Yep. NEVER works for me. Every week, I return home from the grocery store with high hopes that this will be the week. The week when I finally manage to open the box correctly. But alas, each week, I manage to rip the entire end off of the front and the soda cans cascade out causing me to play a quick game of scramble and catch.

This week I thought I'd be clever and use scissors to help me in my attempts. I approached the box wielding my weapon of choice thinking for sure this box had met it's match. I used the blade to trace the perforated edges sawing ever so carefully as not to veer off the path predetermined by the manufacturer. All was going well until I got to the bottom of the box and heard, "Ssssssssssssssssssss".

Defeat.

Now the desperate scramble game is to see which soda can I inadvertently punctured so I can "stop the bleeding" as it were. Of course, it is difficult to see which can is leaking when they are ALL covered in soda. As the search continued, the box was quickly filling with soda and the cardboard was soaking through. . . . thus compromising it's cardboardy nature.

I finally found the can in question and began clean up. Now? I have a perfectly opened cardboard box fit for perfect dispensing. The problem? The box is too soaked and flimsy to be of any use.

Sigh. Purpose defeated.

Hilarious!!! You must be related to the lady who put a box of frozen fruit bars in your pantry, allowing them to become a similarly sodden cardboard mess!
